Today I'll be sharing some photos I took recently while visiting the studio of one of my absolute favourite artists ever - Catrabbit. If you know me personally, I am sure you would have heard me rave at some stage about her amazing works, which range from toy-making, embroidery, felt accessories, art prints, and even book publishing! To say that Cat is very talented would be an under statement, and it has been a real joy for me to follow her progress since I first found out about her work a couple of years ago.
Since moving to Melbourne, I have had the privilege of attending one of Cat's workshop at the very excellent CAE, and if you follow me on my Instagram (@sophiatron) you would have undoubtedly seen my photos from the day. I was also so happy that I got a chance to visit her studio too, and have an exclusive peek into her working progress.
Her studio was every bit as colourful and fun as I imagined it would be, and then some! I love all the little trinkets and cute stuff she had around her workspace, it really made it such a happy place!
Cat is undoubtedly best known for her range of plush, completely made by hand, and with no two looking the very same. For the most part, she doesn't work strictly with patterns, which means there are slight variations and differences in her plush, even if they are the same animal. I have to say, what I really love about her plush is that each of the characters has such a unique personality, no two really are alike! This is also the worst thing about her plush, because it means I want to collect them all!!!
Here is a picture of one of my Blythe dolls next to some new friends and some work-in-progress. As you can see, Cat's plush range in size, some are very big, and some can be very small. I think both Toffee and I wished we could take that big turtle home, look at his very stylish skinny pants and thick-rimmed glasses.
